NASA Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., protects its highly specialized research aircraft with an equally high-tech wireless video surveillance system. To deploy a security system from the ground up in 60 days, the center’s security department turned to AgileMesh, a provider of rapidly deployable video surveillance, and Firetide, a developer of wireless mesh networks.
The wireless system transmits evidence-grade video from the perimeter of the facility to the on-site security operations center. The video is monitored in real time; personnel patrolling the perimeter can respond to incidents within seconds. The system also provides evidence for security and safety investigations.

ALLIE is a dual-lens camera that gets placed atop a table or countertop -- or perhaps mounted to the ceiling -- and easily connects to the Wi-Fi network. Scanning 360-degrees horizontally and 360-degrees vertically, the camera -- in conjunction with its integrated, proprietary software App -- deliver an unprecedented remote-monitoring experience wherein the user can panoramically view from floor-to-ceiling and completely around the room -- even zoom and freeze images -- without any distortion.
Samsung Techwin America
With ARES onboard, a camera in this series is capable of LPR and video data analytics on its own, without the assistance of any external hardware. This is totally unlike traditional “LPR” cameras, which simply detect a license plate region within a video frame, then hand off to an external processor to “read” the plate. In this case, all image processing occurs within the camera, with the final results being output to the user.
The new cameras enable the concurrent detection of license plates from a greater variety of models, capturing license plates from different states or countries on the same system. Customers can also benefit from access to new vehicle behavior and characteristic analytics, and the ability to deploy up to four high-resolution ALPR cameras on a vehicle, for near-360° capture. The new AutoVu Sharp and SharpX cameras are available immediately via the Genetec global network of certified integrators and channel partners.
